The Mori Furniture Collection is first and foremost a tribute to the furniture designs of the Japanese American furniture maker, George Nakashima (1905 – 1990). Each piece is a sculptural work of art, all its own, emphasizing the natural beauty and a respect for the nature of the wood inherent in the design. George Nakashima often said that his work gave trees a second life, and through our work here, it is our hope that the “soul of a tree” will be brought out so that it may live on.
